Help set up the central counterparties resolution task as a resolution expert at DNB.

You will have an impact

At DNB your work will have an impact on financial stability and sustainable prosperity. Our Resolution Division operates as the national resolution and DGS authority in the Netherlands. We are responsible for ensuring that banks and insurance companies are resolvable and drawing up resolution plans. We have a set of instruments that we can use if the consequences of an institution's failure for the economy, financial stability or public finances are too great. DNB, and thus the Resolution Division, will soon be given an additional resolution task, which is to ensure that central counterparties are resolvable. The team preparing for this new task is therefore looking for an expert to help set up and expand that task.

This is what you will do as a central counterparties resolution expert at DNB

Within the Resolution division, you help set up and expand the resolution task for central counterparties. Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for devising and developing strategies for the orderly resolution of failing institutions, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of functions critical to the financial system. You identify the institutions’ critical functions and the scenarios in which they might be compromised.

In addition, you analyse how DNB, as a resolution authority, could use its instruments. In carrying out this task, you be working in a team of experts who possess relevant financial, economic and legal knowledge. In addition, you continuously interact with internal and external stakeholders at home and abroad.

This is where you will be working

At DNB, you work with professionals with extensive experience in the financial sector. The Resolution Division is a dynamic division of over 70 people with diverse backgrounds. We have an informal and cooperative environment, with short lines of communication to management. We work closely together within our own division as well as with the supervision and central bank divisions. We provide staff with targeted mentoring and training activities to reflect the importance of individual professionalism, expertise and effectiveness. We encourage job rotation and relevant international secondments.

Our office is located in Amsterdam. In view of the current situation, however, the vast majority of our employees work partly from home. We provide excellent facilities for this purpose.

This what we need from you

Helping to set up the new central counterparties resolution function is like pioneering: you are mostly entering uncharted territory. To be successful in your role, you must be a results-oriented and flexible self-starter. You are able to grasp complex issues quickly and translate them into clear and incisive analyses, which you can convert into concrete strategies, work processes and actions. You are a team player by nature, which is an indispensable characteristic in an environment characterised by project-based work. You have in-depth knowledge of the operation of financial market infrastructures in general and of central counterparties in particular.

What other characteristics are we looking for?

  • You have a university Master's degree, preferably in a quantitative, economic or financial/legal field.
  • You have at least five years of professional experience in clearing and settlement, having worked at a central counterparty, with other market infrastructure institutions or at a financial institution.
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills (in English), and a good command of Dutch would be preferred.

This is what we offer you

A 36-hour working week right at the heart of today's financial and economic current events. With a reliable and socially involved employer in Amsterdam, who constantly responds to the changing requirements of our environment. And that continuously innovates. As an institution, we are at the heart of society. Our people are driven and involved in their work within a social context. We see a diverse and inclusive work environment as one of the conditions for being successful as an organization and continuing to achieve our goals. This will offer you a wealth of opportunities to develop and gain new experiences, both in the Netherlands and abroad. You will initially be working on a one-year contract, with the prospect of an extension, provided you have performed well and our organisation has not undergone any changes that affect your job.

The other excellent terms and conditions of employment for this position are:

  • A salary of at least € 3.900.-- and a maximum of € 6.400.-- gross per month, based on a 36-hour working week. Among other things, the final salary will depend on your expertise and experience.
  • A 13th monthly salary, an 8% holiday allowance calculated on your 13-month salary and a freely disposable personal budget of 5.9% of your 12-months salary.
  • Your pension entitlements will accrue under a career-average scheme including provisional indexation, with a 6.39% employee contribution.
  • Full reimbursement of your public transport commute.
  • Plenty of opportunities for professional and personal development through education and training.
  • A healthy work-life balance. In this position, it is possible to divide your working week into 4 9-hour days.
