Terms and conditions of employment

Your annual salary consists of 13 monthly salaries and 8% holiday allowance calculated over 13 months. Your placement in a pay scale depends on your qualifications and work experience.

In addition, you will accrue pension benefits under a career average pension scheme including provisional indexation. Your personal contribution to the pension scheme is 6.98%. You are entitled to 200 hours of holiday leave, a discretionary personal choice budget equivalent to 5.9% of your 12-month salary, and a net internet allowance of €50 per month.

Fringe benefits

We know we have to give the best to our employees to get the best out of them. We seek to strike the right balance between our people’s work and private lives so that they find the relaxation and inspiration to excel in their work. We do so with modern, flexible fringe benefits that meet the needs of our diverse workforce.

  • Once every five years, you can claim the following items: desk (€200), adjustable office chair (€250), lighting (€50) and a WiFi amplifier (€100).

  • DNB has its own fitness and sports facilities which are free to use. In addition we will give you 30 minutes per week for sports, exercise and relaxation activities at the office.

  • Parental leave

    You are entitled to 26 weeks of parental leave, of which 9 weeks are partly (70%) paid. We will supplement your salary to 100% for the first 2 weeks.

    Family caregiving leave

    We will work with you to find an appropriate arrangement if you must provide care to a family member.

    Adoption and foster care leave

    We will supplement your salary to 100% for 6 weeks over and above the statutory arrangements.

    Partner leave

    Over and above the statutory arrangements (1 week paid at 100% and 5 weeks at 70%) we will supplement your salary to 100% for entire period.

    Gender reassignment leave

    You will be entitled to 33 weeks of fully paid leave for gender reassignment. You have the option to spread this leave over a ten-year period.

    Buying & selling leave hours

    At DNB, you have the option of buying or selling up to 100 hours of leave per year.

  • DNB operates a lease bicycle scheme. If you wish to make use of it, we will contribute €50 per month.

  • For just €25 a month, you can opt for 1st class for your commute to the office by train. You may always opt for 1st class for business travel.

  • Repayment of DUO student loan

    You have the option to repay up to €1,000 of your DUO student loan annually in a tax-friendly way if you have been employed at DNB for at least three years.

    Study facility regulation

    Up to 72 hours of study leave and reimbursement of study expenses. In addition, each division has a training budget available.

  • You can spend time working abroad, a 'workation', subject to certain conditions.

  • You can borrow a DNB Museum Card for free to visit your favourite museums in the Netherlands.

  • At DNB, fresh fruit is available every day free of charge. Healthy and delicious!

  • O&o organises an impressive range of activities our staff. There is something enjoyable for everyone.

  • If you refer someone for a vacancy at DNB and they are hired, you will receive a referral bonus of €1,250 net.

  • Under this scheme, you work 80% of your weekly hours, you receive 90% of your monthly salary and your pension will continue to accrue at 100%.

  • This insurance supplements your income after two years of partial occupational disability. DNB bears the cost of the premiums.

Collective labour agreement

DNB’s collective labour agreement has been agreed between DNB and the trade unions Association of Employees of DNB NV (Employees’ Association) and FNV Finance. It sets out DNB's terms of employment. The full Dutch text of the collective labour agreement can be found here.

The separate schedule of amounts is an integral part of DNB’s collective labour agreement. It specifies amounts to which the collective labour agreement refers, but which may be updated during its term. Examples include the minimum and maximum salary scales following changes in structural wage development (salary increases under the collective labour agreement). Introductory interview

Your introductory interview at DNB will be conducted by a manager or experienced team member and a recruiter. For some roles, you may be asked to complete an online assessment (a cognitive test and/or a personality questionnaire) at home before the interview. This helps us gain a fuller understanding of your qualifications and personality.

In-depth interview and case study

If both sides are enthusiastic, you will be invited for an in-depth interview with colleagues from the relevant department or division.
For positions such as supervisor or policy officer, a case study, written assignment or additional assessment may be part of the procedure. Senior positions could require an additional interview or external evaluation, while managerial roles may include an additional interview with the divisional director and/or a job-specific (external) assessment. We will always inform you about this well in advance.

Terms of employment and screening

If you are selected, you will receive an offer during the terms & conditions interview. We will also explain your civil servant status, since DNB falls under the Dutch Public Servants (Standardisation of Legal Status) Act (Wet Normalisatie Rechtspositie Ambtenaren – Wnra).
