From Supervisor to Data Protection Officer
‘After several years in a broad-based role as a supervisor and legal counsel, I wanted to specialise further in privacy law. So when a recruiter from DNB contacted me on LinkedIn about the role of Privacy Officer in DNB’s Privacy Office, I was immediately interested.
Right away I could tell that I would be surrounded by dedicated and experienced experts, and during the interviews, the genuine interest shown by my future colleagues and managers was the deciding factor.
Various tasks
In carrying out its tasks, DNB processes personal data. We do so, of course, with the utmost care and in accordance with the applicable privacy laws and regulations. The Privacy Office draws up policies, guidelines and instructions for this purpose. The first line – the business – is responsible for implementing policies, while the Privacy Office, operating on the second line, provides advice on privacy law and data protection regulations. In addition, we carry out various checks on the processing of personal data. This mix of tasks makes my job varied and fascinating.
Together, we are taking the organisation to a higher level of maturity.
Confidence
Privacy is a fundamental right, and it is important that people can be confident that their personal data is processed with due care. Our aim is to take DNB to an ever-higher level of maturity in the field of data protection. That is why we also organise training courses and awareness-raising activities, so that colleagues who handle personal data can make informed decisions within the confines of the law. This helps us minimise privacy risks as much as possible and better protect personal data in our day-to-day operations.
Development and teamwork
Another thing I like about working at DNB is that you’re given the opportunity to take training courses and work on your professional and personal development. Development really is the focus here. I’m also very pleased with the teamwork I experience every day. We divide up the work among team members by mutual agreement and assist each other where necessary.’
